For our client Si.mobil, we organized and carried out a prize game that took place on their two islands in virtual world Second Life – Slovenia, and Slovenia Welcome.

For two weeks, from 23rd of September until 6th of October, we hid one virtual mobile phone every day on one of the two islands. The person (avatar) that found it first and touched it received a notecard (a written message) with further instructions, while he was then able to pick up a real mobile phone Samsung SGH-L810V in the main Si.mobil shop.

The virtual mobile telephone was pre-programed so it automatically recognized and listed the avatar that found it first (each avatar was able to pick it up only once). It also immediately and automatically notified the person that found it and it also sent all needed information to the organizer as well. At the time of the prize game scripts were turned off on both of the islands (so that automatic search with the help of programmes were disabled) while there were also some other mechanisms placed all around the island, that made other kinds of unfair and automatic search for virtual mobile phones impossible.

At the time of the prize game, there were also two Si.mobil guides present at the Slovenia Welcome island. They offered help to all avatars, answering their questions about the prize game itself as well as help the new registered users to deal with some basic common problems that they might have had.
